Arrival in Paris: Delays, Language Barriers, and Unexpected Adventures

Hey there, fellow travelers! Today, I want to share the rollercoaster ride we had during our arrival in Paris. Here’s our story of delays, language barriers, and an unexpected encounter.

We were scheduled to depart from Barcelona to Paris at 9:00 PM. However, our flight experienced a slight delay. Since it was a short flight, we landed at Charles de Gaulle Airport, around 1:30 AM.

Confusion struck as we found ourselves surrounded by everything in French at the airport. Thank goodness for the Moovit app, which came to our rescue. We relied on it to figure out how to get to our hotel. Moovit recommended taking a train that supposedly departed from the airport. We think it was called “RER C,” but unfortunately, it seemed to be non-operational at that late hour.

So, we improvised and hopped on a shuttle train to another section of the airport where buses to central Paris departed from.

After a long bus ride, we arrived at the Gare de l’Est metro station. To our dismay, the metro had already closed for the night.

A frightening welcome

Picture this: there we were, with our luggage and backpacks, at 3 am, desperately trying to figure out a way to reach our hotel. In the midst of it all, we had a momentary lapse in attention, and someone grabbed one of our backpacks. Can you believe it? That particular bag held our passports and money.

My girlfriend saw the thief, screamed „NOOO“ and the guy (thank god!) dropped our backpack and ran away.

It was a frightening moment, but we spotted a police officer nearby and rushed over to seek help until our Uber arrived and whisked us away to our hotel.

Phew! What a wild start to our Parisian adventure. Stay tuned for more tales from our journey through the City of Lights!

Remember, even when things don’t go as planned, there’s always a story to tell and valuable lessons to learn along the way. Keep exploring and embracing the unexpected!
